The journey continues

Some things remain. And some things become even more beautiful.

Anyone who goes on a journey has a lot to tell. The Gmachl journey through the Genussdorf, the village of pleasure, is truly a traditional and long one. For seven generations, the family has sensibly gone step by step with guests & friends. "Innovation and the holiday experience are the dream couple for us and the source of ideas for shaping our future," Franz Gmachl Jr. puts it in a nutshell. Wonderful. It remains exciting as usual.

The motto for 2026? Refresh the Genussdorf with innovation

In line with the regenerative idea, a lot was invested in the existing buildings over a six-month construction period last year. In addition, completely new areas were created with the roof houses, the new kitchen, the tea garden, a new "Wolke" massage room and the Genussmacher (pleasure maker) quarters. "It is important for all guests and our pleasure makers to keep creating new stimuli so that good interaction is possible. This is the only way to make a holiday a success," says junior manager Anna.

Innovative Renewal 2026

Insights into the new Genussdorf worlds

Rooms & suites in the traditional Gmachl main building with urban chic

"Everything in flow" was the motto for the redesign of the classic "Salzach" Genussdorf rooms in the main building. The 36 m2 rooms in the historic building are designed to be brighter, friendlier and more refreshing. The high-quality lime plaster looks beautiful, cosy and is a regenerative building material. The soft shades of colour also underline the well-known "Gmachl cosiness" as usual. The view of the Salzach, the Alps and the Hohensalzburg Fortress is impressive anyway.

Wellness roof houses - new eco-suites

The idea was clear. The rooftop houses will be the icing on the cake in the Genussdorf Gmachl. And not just because of their location at the top. The timber construction features organic shapes, a modern spa interior with whirlpool and sauna, lots of lovely greenery, a tablet for music and to control the lighting ambience depending on the mood. The roof houses are powered by renewable energy. For those interested, the power generation in the roof house is visible.

A village full of delights: Kitchen & cooking at the highest level

The kitchen has been completely renovated. Together with the kitchen team led by Andreas Fuchs, all processes were rethought. From delivery to waste disposal, no pot was left unturned. "Our aim was to raise the processes and working conditions to a new level with the latest technology. All workstations are also fully air-conditioned, which is a hit," the chef shares his enthusiasm.
The shop window into the kitchen gives anyone interested an insight into the daily work of the gourmet chefs, so that the wellness break is a success at all levels.

Food & drink

Good morning in the tea garden

A new, warming pleasure room to feel good in. When you enter the light-flooded tea garden with its abundance of greenery, you immediately feel the relaxing effect of a regionally influenced tea culture and imagine yourself sitting in the garden. Of course, the village tea comes from Austria. The herbs served with it are always fresh from the Genussdorf garden. With the Gmachl tea culture, an important centerpiece of the village idea has been harmoniously designed in the wellness hotel.

Genussmacher quarters including village bistro

"We are very proud that our Genussmacher, as the first employer brand (2016), have now moved into newly designed accommodation alongside the software," says a delighted Franz Gmachl Jr. Together, all areas have been sensibly designed - the Genussmacher attitude to life has been given a really strong face here. "The aim was to create a living space with a common idea in these rooms. Because togetherness has always been and will always be our top priority in the Genussdorf Gmachl," says the junior manager, clearly defining the cornerstones of the lifestyle.

Floating on a cloud

Over the years of development, the Dorf SPA in Bergheim has made a name for itself among wellness fans and returning pleasure nomads.
With the new "Wolke" couples massage room, floating in pairs and the feeling of shared lightness becomes an incomparable SPA duet in the unique Gmachl wellness center. In summer, you can float away together in the fresh air.
